Hurricane Marilyn was one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit the Virgin Islands since Hurricane Hugo 6 years prior.
Retirement[]
Due to the destruction Marilyn had caused, Marilyn was retired and will be never used again in the Atlantic. It was replaced by Michelle for the 2001 season (which got retired in that same season).
